- Reading & study data — your reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, and notes, stored to sync across your devices.
- Ask queries — questions you submit to the AI Q&A feature, used to generate your answer and improve the service.
- Usage data — anonymous analytics such as features used and session length, to help us improve the app.
- Device information — device type, OS version, and crash reports for debugging purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the app and its features.
- To sync your reading progress, notes, and highlights across devices.
- To generate AI-assisted answers to your scripture questions.
- To send optional notifications (e.g. daily reading reminders) if you enable them.
- To diagnose and fix bugs and crashes.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:
- Service providers — trusted third parties that help us operate the app (e.g. cloud hosting, analytics), bound by confidentiality agreements.
- AI providers — your Ask queries may be processed by an AI provider to generate answers. Queries are not linked to your identity when sent.
- Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the safety of users.
4. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app's settings screen. Anonymous usage analytics are retained for up to 24 months.
5. Children's Privacy
Aletheia is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
6. Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest) to protect your data. No system is completely secure; please use a strong password and keep your device updated.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability (receive a copy of your data in a structured format).
