Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using the Aletheia mobile application ("App") operated by Aletheia ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading or using the App you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. By using it you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
2. License to Use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on your own devices solely for your personal, non-commercial Bible study and devotional use, in accordance with these Terms.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
- Use the App for any commercial purpose without our written consent.
- Attempt to circumvent any content protection or access controls.
3. User Content
The App allows you to create notes, highlights, and bookmarks ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content. By saving it in the App you grant us a limited licence to store and display it solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.
You are responsible for ensuring your User Content does not violate any law or third-party rights.
4. AI-Assisted Features
The Ask feature uses artificial intelligence to provide answers grounded in scripture. AI-generated responses are provided for informational and devotional purposes only and do not constitute theological, legal, medical, or professional advice. Always use your own discernment and consult qualified advisors for important decisions.
We strive to ensure answers are scripture-centred and accurate, but we do not warrant the completeness or correctness of AI responses.
5. Bible Text & Third-Party Content
Bible translations displayed in the App are used under their respective licences. Devotional and commentary content may be sourced from third parties and is used with permission. All rights remain with their respective owners.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the App to:
- Harass, abuse, or harm any person.
- Transmit spam, malware, or harmful code.
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems.
7. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
Certain premium features may require a paid subscription. All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are subject to their respective terms. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. We do not issue refunds except as required by applicable law or platform policy.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aletheia shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of or inability to use the App. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including liability limits and dispute resolution) will do so.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notice or email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Aletheia is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
